Why are some Safari 10 pages pink

macOS Sierra 10.12

Safari 10.0

I've Googled this question with no luck. Some web pages (notably Google) show up in Safari as completely dark pink. Another web page will display the same way until I use the scroll wheel to scroll down. Then it displays fine for about 2 seconds then goes back to pink.

There doesn't seem to be any commonality between pages that show up pink and the ones that show up normal.

This is driving me nuts. I've been through Preferences and have come up em

If everything is normal in the Safe Mode, try running this program in your normal account , then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

Etrecheck – System Information

Yeah, I tried that. Twice. Both times I received the message that my reply could not be posted try again in a few moments. And then at some point the above-mentioned message about containing invalid characters appears. I tried both the "normal" editor and the advanced editor.

It would be nice if I could attach a text file. But try as I might, I cannot copy and paste the output of EtreCheck and get the message to post.

You have a lot of 3rd party software installed, but none of it is a 'known' troublemaker.

Try a restart.

Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferenes, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolating an issue by using another user account

OK. I switched user to my wife's account (which she doesn't use anymore since she got her iPhone 😉). Safari works just fine, even on Google's landing page.

So now it's just a matter of doing some detective work and finding out which setting and/or app is giving the bizarre results.

Once found, I'll post back here with the results.

Thanks you very much for your help.
